  Chapter One

  Sadie

“You have always been mine. Mine to take. Mine to use. Mine to punish. And mine to fuck. I’m coming for you, Sadie. There is nowhere you can run and no way you can hide. I. Will. Find. You. And when I do, you will beg me for more. More pleasure. More pain. You’ll have everything you’ve ever craved, but only after you surrender to me body and soul.”

I blinked several times, shuddering as I glanced from right to left. This wasn’t real, but I could almost see his face as the smooth deep baritone of his voice slid all the way down my body, unfurrowing in my pussy. I was wet and hot, much like I was every time he came to me. A fantasy? A dream?

  Or reality...

Visions swirled in front of me, vibrant colorations of my naked body being draped over a thick wooden bench, my captor spanking me, the thick leather strap slicing across my skin both agonizing and delicious.

“You deserve harsh punishment,” he whispered, his hot breath skating across my neck and back.

  Crack!

The pain was intense, driving me to a wild state, struggling and whimpering. He gave another series of hard strikes, each one landing directly across my sit spot. I was so ashamed at my body’s reaction, burning desire building, feasting on every cell and muscle. I gathered a scent of my longing, my nipples aching to be plucked and pinched. I could swear I felt his hand between my legs, stroking my tender skin, fingers driving past my swollen folds. My entire body tingled, and in my fantasy, I begged him for more.

Only seconds later, I envisioned his cock, so hard and long, the bulbous end purple from his raging desire.

And my mouth watered at the thought of sucking him, taking every drop of his sweet cream. My pussy quivered in anticipation of being fucked like the bad little girl I truly was.

A loud clap of thunder brought a whimper from my throat, my heart racing. He was real. I knew it in my heart and he was coming for me.

  The End of Days.

I’d been told for years that the horrific rapture that would consume every righteous mortal was right around the corner. Then darkness would ensue, consuming and feasting. Those who followed the teachings of the devil would be spared, allowed to control the Earth, enslaving God-fearing creatures to do the biddings of their master.

Rapture: A mystical experience in which the spirit is exalted to a knowledge of divine things.

  Rapture: Ecstasy, bliss, ravishment.

The meaning in the dictionary certainly gave me several other sinful thoughts, none of them having to do with a beast bearing sharp horns.

I bit back a laugh, wiggling in my seat, my pussy clenching. Such bad girl thoughts.

I’d also heard there was one human female who’d been imprisoned, prepared to fight against the tyranny as established by Lucifer and his followers. She was still enslaved, her mind and body broken from years of torment.

Stories told over campfires, in order to instill good behavior in little girls and boys. Very few believed in the ancient teachings, but I’d come to expect that at least some of what I’d read held a certain amount of accuracy.

  Humans, after all, needed discipline.

  Evil. Evil. Evil.

The notion continued to swirl around me, nightmares keeping me awake. My eyes were so dry they ached, and my throat was parched. I hated being here. Coerced.

  Forced.

  Like a good little girl.

I shuddered at the thought. The sad truth? I couldn’t stand my life.

  “The devil is amongst us!”

The way my father shouted from the pulpit made me cringe, but he and his followers truly believed in good versus evil. I slunk down in the hard bench-style seat, longing to be with my books and all alone, fantasizing about another life. That would never happen. My parents never left me alone. Being the daughter of a charismatic cult leader meant I was required to attend every service. I was twenty years old and was still controlled by a man who believed I was riddled with sin.

  Maybe I was.

  I read romance novels.

I dreamed of a dark knight taking me away from this place, protecting me.

I longed for the touch of a man, taking me to new heights of ecstasy. My pussy clenched just thinking about a rugged man’s hands gripping my thighs as he pressed his face into my wetness. I shoved my knees together, terrified that the scent of the juice trickling into my already damp panties was detectable. These weren’t proper thoughts for a minister’s daughter. They weren’t pure.

  Evil.

The word licked at me. Shivering, I bit my lip and dared glance around at the congregation as the believers raised their fists in acceptance. Jesus was their savior.

  I didn’t have one.

I was shocked that my father held so much control over them, everyone else in town realizing the teachings were vile in every manner. Sadly, even law enforcement had turned their head, refusing to get in the middle of the freak show.

I jumped, hearing the clap of thunder, able to see the bold strike of lightning shimmering through the stained-glass windows. The eeriness of the vibrant caricatures, depictions of good versus evil, made my skin crawl. Even the rumble of wind through the hundred-year-old trees seemed more dangerous tonight, as if there was a festering of evil crouching just outside the doors.

  Crack!

The sound was ominous, casting shadows into the dimly lit church. Candles flickered, the howling wind creeping through the aging windows and doors.

“And we shall cast out that demon before he takes hold. Yes!” My father slammed his hand on the wood podium, the clanging noise from the goblet of host wine falling onto the floor more chilling than anything.

I watched as the red liquid flowed from the tarnished sterling silver, everything suddenly in slow motion. Blood. The chalice was spewing blood of the centuries.

“Praise the lord!” the entire room stated. “Praise be to God the almighty.”

I noticed my mother sitting in the first row, her glorious long hair in the required bun. My father was strict, believing that allowing any concept of vanity was akin to following the devil himself.

  The old ways.

  The old beliefs.

James Mullins had made certain the entire sma
ll town believed the devil had found us, threatening all that we had. People were terrified, locking their doors at night as if that would keep away the prince of darkness. I knew otherwise. If the devil was ready to drag us to the underworld, he would take anyone at any time.

  His choice.

  His burning desire.

I want you. You belong to me.

I could almost hear his sultry voice beckoning me. I twisted my hands, trying to catch my breath as I glanced around the expansive room. Tonight seemed different, another purpose in mind. This wasn’t his normal sermon, the glow and show of a man who enjoyed being in the limelight.

I was sick to my stomach, trying to block out my father’s words. I’d been punished for being a nonbeliever for far too long. I’d also been chastised for wanting a different life. I had to get away, out of this town before it consumed me like it had everyone else. I’d made my decision against my father’s wishes, sending out a dozen applications to various colleges. I’d saved some money working at the hardware store, and if I was lucky, I’d receive offers for scholarships.

If not, I’d run away, finding a community college in a town far removed from this strangling hold of a town. Whatever worked. Whatever got me the hell out of here.

I needed a savior, someone I could trust without question.

Maybe my hunger was simply insatiable.

Fiddling, my mind wandered, envisioning my hero’s face, his engaging eyes and a smile that could light up a room. I shivered as the fantasy continued; fingers dancing down my naked skin, a thick cock sliding into my molten pussy.

My father suddenly threw out his arm in my direction, his fingers flexed open. “Thou hast found Satan and he lives in one of us. Right here. Right now. The devil’s spawn has requested one human female to rule the Earth by his side. That will mean the imprisonment of our species, caged and used for breeding and dark biddings.”

There wasn’t a person who hadn’t turned their head in my direction. My mouth was parched to the point I couldn’t say anything. What the hell was my father talking about? The devil’s spawn? My skin crawled, my heart racing. He couldn’t be serious.

  But he was.

“Blasphemy. In order for our species to survive, we will rid her of the devil! We will heal her very soul, erase the fires that burn within. Lucifer’s spawn will not make her his queen!”

This was crazy. My father had lost his mind. I tried to shift to the end of the bench but within seconds, two sets of hands grabbed me, massive men in dark suits yanking me into the aisle.

“What are you doing?” My screech was lost in the sudden hum that flowed throughout the church. The entire congregation was alive, stomping their feet as they stood, turning in my direction with anger and fear in their eyes. “No!”

They believed I’d been consumed by the devil.

“Father. No!” I struggled, trying desperately to get out of the strong clutches of men I didn’t even know, had never seen before.

  But they were too strong.

  This had been planned.

Oh, my God. Oh, help me, please!

There was no one who would dare go against my father.

The brutes dragged me forward, past the same people I’d known my entire life, men and women who no longer looked at me with anything but hatred.

  And pity.

  And fear...

“You will be healed, child. We will save you from the rapture!” my father shouted over the din of the room, holding his hand high as if to the almighty.

“End of Days. End of Days.”

The chanting made me sick to my stomach.

“I am not the woman you’re talking about. I would never marry the devil’s spawn. Don’t do this.” My cries of compassion were met with deaf ears. I had no idea what to expect, although I’d heard his talk of exorcism. I’d also heard him speak of an ancient prophecy, crazy shit that I could barely tolerate. I was terrified, every nerve ending on edge. I couldn’t believe he was going to do this to me. To his daughter.

And my mother remained calmly in her seat, her hands in her lap as if this had all been planned.

“Evil child. She is of the devil himself, bred to become his bride. Christ will heal you, child, purge you of your sins. Yes! Praise the Lord!” My father was smiling, his eyes glistening with tears.

  “Evil. Evil. Evil. Evil. Evil.”

I heard the chanting, the words drilling into my mind. I had to get out of here. Tears formed in my eyes and I was unable to stop the salty beads as they slipped past my lashes. My entire world was crashing down and for what? Because I was a girl who wanted a different life? Because I simply wanted to go to college and get the hell out of here?

  Fuck them.

  Fuck this.

I had no idea where I found the strength, but I continued struggling, kicking out at the men holding me and suddenly, I was free. I jerked forward, racing toward the side door, bursting to the outside. Rain pelted down, the wind whipping through my hair, but the feeling was glorious, as if I could do anything.

  Free. I was free!

Then I heard them—their footsteps and their screams.

  Get her. Get her!

  They were chasing after me.

  Oh, God. No! No!

I willed my legs to keep me pushing forward, to find a safe haven. Where? There was nowhere I could go, my friends terrified of my father. I would find a place. I could. I would. Shame and guilt ravaged me as I raced down the darkened path toward the main road. All I could think about was getting away.

As the scattered yells increased in volume, I shot through the forest, unable to see anything. I knew my way in these woods, the quiet places I’d gone to think and read.

  And dream.

But tonight, the woods seemed as dangerous as the congregation, keeping me on edge, my mind reeling. If I could get to the road, then maybe I’d have a chance.

  Where could I go?

Who was going to help me?

The next town was almost fifteen miles south.

Nothing mattered but getting away. I was prepared to face whatever wrath followed, but I refused to be treated like some evil girl. I wasn’t. Tree limbs slapped my face, the pain almost blinding but I refused to stop. The woods had always been my friend. They wouldn’t fail me now.

  Keep running. Keep going.

After several minutes, I was no longer able to hear their vicious cries. Maybe they were gone, giving up. Maybe I’d be okay.

Please, God. Save me. Help me!

I finally stopped to catch my breath, leaning against a massive tree. I felt safe, even comforted. Hunkering over, I wiped the rain from my eyes, shivering from a level of cold that bit into every bone and muscle. If there was a God, I needed his help. Now. Another yell from only yards away pushed me forward once again. They wouldn’t stop until I was in their chains.

That wasn’t going to happen. I was no one’s prisoner.

Tears trickled down both sides of my face as I continued running, dashing through the darkness.

My courage bolstered, I willed my legs to move faster, work harder. I could almost see a light ahead. I could swear it, even though there was no way. There were no streetlights, no places of business out here in the wilderness.

There was only the church and miles of trees.

  And absolute desolation.

I noticed movement of some kind. I knew I was right. Then I heard the rumble of an engine.

I could see a light. A car. A car was coming. Thank you. Thank you! I picked up speed, heading in the direction of the beautiful sound. Bursting out of the woods, I threw my arms into the air as a vehicle careened around the corner at an excessive rate of speed.

  Skidding sounds.

  A horn.

  A thud.

I dropped to my knees, prepared to die, my arms over my head and gasping for air. “Don’t let me die. Please don’t let me die.”

  Suddenly, everything was quiet.

  Deathly quiet.

  There
was a moment of utter peace filtering into my mind, flowing through every vein and muscle. I was almost euphoric, devoid of any kind of pain. Smiling, I took a deep breath, inhaling the most incredible scent and it was all masculine. My nipples hardened, my legs trembling as an unearthly desire raged like jolts of electricity. Every cell in my body was so alive, awakened from my nightmare.

  “Miss. Are you all right?”

I heard the husky voice, so dark and comforting, and knew my savior had found me. Slowly lifting my head, the bright lights coming from the front of the vehicle blinded me, but I could still see his eyes. So beautiful. So intense. “I’m...”

“What a beautiful girl. What are you doing out here all alone in the middle of this terrible storm? You could have gotten yourself killed.”

I had to be dreaming. I opened my mouth to respond, but I was far too breathless, my throat swollen, my breathing coming in wheezing sounds.

“Come on. I’ll take you to somewhere safe.”

I was aware he’d lifted me into his arms, cradling me against his chest. Power seemed to exude from every rippling muscle as he took long strides. I was safe, protected from the haunting evils. Within seconds, I was eased into the passenger seat, the door closed after me. A stranger had become my hero. I huddled against the door as he climbed inside and for a few precious seconds as the interior light remained on, I gathered a glimpse of my savior.

Dark and dangerous. The words came to mind easily, but there was more, feeding the unbridled lust that I couldn’t control. He was gorgeous in every manner, penetrating eyes and a strong jaw, his long dark hair curled on the ends and gloriously wet from the rain. His lips were full and luscious, and my mind went to every naughty girl thing described in books I’d read. I could see kissing him for hours in front of a roaring fire, exploring every intimacy.

  Yielding to him.

Wait. That wasn’t normal. Shame filled me, slithering down my arms and legs, curling around my tendons. I couldn’t desire a stranger. Not now. Not ever.

But he was familiar. His voice. His intensity. His dangerous mannerisms.

Inhaling, his exotic scent of spices and the deep woods filtered into my nostrils, intoxicating me. I was filled with unbridled desire by his roughhewn looks alone.
